Is it True Insulin Cause Impotence

Some many people have opinion that all diabetes is inherited. In the fact, not everyone who gets diabetes inherits it. People tend to inherit the risk of type 2 diabetes more than type 1. You are considered at risk for developing type 2 if any first-degree relatives have diabetes.

Another diabetes myth is the type 1 diabetes is more serious than type 2. This myth is also widespread and its origin is historic. Before the discovery of insulin in 1922, the diagnosis of type 1 signified certain death within months. And while all people with type 1 require insulin to survive, it is possible to control type 2 without insulin. However a person may have type 2 for months or years before diagnosis, therefore serious complications, such as eye damage or kidney failure, may have already developed, making it more serious than type 1 in certain cases.

Here are other diabetes myths found:

1. Insulin causes impotence. Some men who have diabetes may become impotent, but not because they take insulin. Impotence or erectile dysfunction is caused by damage to nerves caused by many years of high blood glucose.

2. If you do have diabetes, you cannot have any sugar, it must be sugar-free. This is a myth, and the truth is our bodies not only recognize sugar, but they know how to use it. For me, personally, wheat raises my blood sugar more than white sugar. If you do want a safe sugar substitute, I would recommend vegetable glycerin.

3. People with diabetes can't eat sweets or chocolate.
If eaten as part of a healthy meal plan, or combined with exercise, sweets and desserts can be eaten by people with diabetes. They are no more “off limits” to people with diabetes, than they are to people without diabetes.

4. There are many jobs that people with diabetes can't do. False: Almost all jobs can be done by people with diabetes. In the past, some positions in the military, and occupations like airplane pilot or interstate truck driving were not available to people with diabetes. Today, many of these professions are changing those requirements.

Diabetes Myth and Fact

Diabetes mellitus is a widespread disease that still very few people have the right to information. The reason behind the ideas about the diabetes mellitus is the lack of knowledge about the topic. This article tries to dispel some myths that are related to diabetes mellitus. It seems that every trip I've always heard that the five myths diabetes. Myths are moving from one generation to another. Everyone seems to think that this folklore. I have decided that all the mystery of these myths and give you what is really with the new technology of today.

Myth: I don't need to change my diabetes treatment program if my A1c count is lower than 8 percent.

Fact: The reason for any diabetes treatment plan is to get your numbers as close to normal as possible and to gain tight control of your diabetes. The closer your A1c is to normal range - less than 7 percent - the lower your chances for complications, such as nerve damage and eye disease.

There are no early symptoms of diabetes.

Fact: The early symptoms of untreated diabetes mellitus are related to elevated blood sugar levels, and loss of glucose in the urine. High amounts of glucose in the urine can cause increased urine output and lead to dehydration. Dehydration causes increased thirst and water consumption. The inability to utilize glucose energy eventually leads to weight loss despite an increase in appetite. Fluctuations in blood sugars can also lead to blurring of vision early in the course of diabetes.

Bandage Wrist or Lower Arm

Bandaging Limbs

Bandages should be long enough to encircle the limb, and at least an inch wider than the wound. Keep them loose enough to avoid impairing circulation, and bandage a limb in the position in which it will remain during the transport or while the wound heals.
  • Begin by placing the end of the bandage on the limb.
  • Make a firm turn around the limb to hold the bandage's end in place. Secure the bandage with first-aid tape, a safety pin, or by cutting the end of the bandage in two, putting one end on each side of the limb, and then tying the ends into a knot.

Immobilization: Applying Splints and Slings

A splint can be fashioned from rolled-up newspapers, rolled blankets, pillows, boards, and so forth. Ideally, a splint should be long enough to extend past either end of a suspected fracture and past the nearest joints. It is important to splint an injury in the position you found it. Do not attempt to move or straighten an injured limb.

To hold a splint in place, use bandannas, neckties, or strips of cloth as a sling. Tie the splint above and below the injury. Secure the joints above and below the injury. The splint should provide firm support for the injury while allowing for good circulation. Indications that circulation is impeded include blue or pale fingers or toes on the splinted limb. Have all the knots on the same side, and do not allow them to press into the injury.

Here's how to apply splints and/or slings on specific areas:

ban wrist or lower arm

In emergency situations, splints and slings can be improvised.
In this case, rolled sturdy paper or cardboard makes an adequate splint,
and a long-sleeved shirt has been tied as a sling

Wrist or lower arm: Put the injured arm across the patient's torso with the elbow at a right angle. The palm should be in, the thumb up. Splint each side of the arm from the elbow to beyond the wrist, leaving the fingers visible. Check the fingers frequently to see if circulation is impeded by tight bandages.

Reduce Memory Loss

Read, learn something, play Scrabble or do crossword puzzles, and you can try your hand in surfing the net to chat programs of communication through e-mail to pen pals, etc.... If you continue to learn and challenge yourself, your brain continues to grow, literally. An active brain produces new connections between nerve cells that allow cells to communicate with one another. This helps your brain store and retrieve information more easily, no matter what your age.

A memory problem is serious when it affects your daily living. If you sometimes forget names or words, you're probably okay. Normal memory loss doesn't get much worse over a period of time. It may be hard to figure out on your own if you have a serious problem of memory impairment. Talk to your family doctor about any concerns you have. Your doctor may be able to help you if your memory problems are caused by a medicine that has been prescribed or by a bout of depression.

Note: At present, there is no drug that can prevent age-related memory loss or reverse it according to medical authorities. Nor is there a pill for people who want to sharpen their memories, although experts believe that one day this might be possible.

Ways Retain Power Memory

Just how you can regain you ability to remember here are a few simple hints to help you to retain your power of memory:

Keep lists
Have a picture in your mind through notations in a handy small notebook, which would help you remember appointments, addresses, shopping lists, etc.. A telephone number or a street address is difficult to remember for anybody in all ages, so an address book would be quite useful. Keep your address book updated and easily accessible.

Follow a routine
If you're constantly misplacing objects such as your keys or glasses simply put them in the same place time and time again when you return home.

Make associations
This way is great to connect things in your mind, such as using landmarks to help you find places. For example remembering where you parked your car. When you alight from your vehicle, look around at certain familiar landmarks. As you walk away from you car, keep looking back at your car once or twice in order to get a visual idea of where it will be when you return.

Keep Your Brain Health

Other ways you can use to keep your health in brain to increase the power of memory you can read on the ways below:

Keep a detailed calendar a good way of remembering birthdays, anniversaries, etc., is to hang a birthday calendar on the door of your toilet. It's a fine idea and it works. Also you should use a pocket calendar or electronic organizer to keep appointments and other important dates. Also you should write in your calendar lists of things that you have to do each day. Be sure to write down the names of people to call, any bills you need to pay and any errands you need to run. You should have this with you all the time for easy reference.

Repeat names when you meet new people Repetition is one of the best ways of learning something and remembering things. When you meet a new acquaintance, the more you politely repeat his or her name in the following conversation, the more you will retain their names in your memory.

Run through the ABC's in your head will help you think of words you're having trouble in remembering. "Hearing" the first letter of a word may jog your memory.

Above all do things that keep you mind and even you body busy. Experts all agree that memory when you grow older can be improved and retained by exercise. Any form of physical exercise from sports, walking and swimming to gardening and even dancing will help to improve your body circulation and bring your body a supply a much-needed fresh oxygen. Mental exercises will help you stimulate the brain cells; the more the variety in these exercises the better.

Increase Memory In Brains

Everyone forgets things. Forgetfulness tends to increase with age, but there's a big difference between normal absent-mindedness and the type of memory loss associated with memory impairments. Keeping your brain working is an exercise in effort and ability that achieves results in retaining your memory power. Remembering involves an act of the brain. As with other skills, you either use it or lose it.

You would be relieved to know there is nothing wrong with your brain as you grow older according to Family Doctor.org. Your short-term and remote memories aren't usually affected by aging. But your recent memory may be affected. For example, you may forget names of people you've met recently. Or when you know a certain word or phrase and can't recall them, which off course is quite frustrating; you'll remember in time, as it is just a simple glitch in your memory. Off course all these problems of remembering becomes more common when you age. These are normal changes, but it's not serious and above all not worrisome.

Normal age-related memory loss doesn't prevent you from living a full and productive life. You just need more time to remember a name or the task you had set out to do. You're aware that you're forgetful and may even joke about it.

A toothache is primarily caused by tooth decay in most people. Bacteria that live in your mouth thrive on the sugars and starches in the food you eat. These bacteria form a sticky plaque that clings to the surface of your teeth.

The first sign of decay may be a sensation of pain when you eat something cold, hot or sweet. A toothache often indicates that your dentist will need to work on your teeth.

Pimple The Ghost For Girls

Pimple is the skin disease that most teenage especially girls always worried about it. Here others myth and fact of pimple

The more you wash your face the less Acne manifests

Well, it is good to wash your face in order to remove make-up, dust and other impurities that gather on the skin during the day but you should not do it more than twice a day. Also, when washing your face dermatologists recommend that you use non-alcoholic, soap-free cleansers with gently movements for avoiding skin irritation. Also, avoid scrubbing as it will only harm the skin that already suffers from Acne.

If you have Acne you must not use make-up products

This used to have been true 30 years ago. Nowadays the cosmetic companies have special make-up products for Acne skin that are oil-free and to not clog up the pores. Some of them even contain substances that heal pimples, so fell free to use make-up products but do not forget to wash your skin before going to bed in order to remove any tracks of make up from your skin.

Men that suffer of Acne should not shave

This is partially true. If the pimple is red, painful and seems to have pus men should avoid that zone during shaving for a day or two in order to prevent the infection from spreading to other skin areas too. Otherwise, a sharp blade and a quality shaving gel can be used by a man that has Acne.

Pimple The Myth And Fact

It is perfectly normal for teenagers to have a few pimples, blackheads and whiteheads due to their hormonal changes that take place somewhere between the age of 12 and 17. In order to treat Acne properly we must first see what is true and what is false in all those myths people have about Acne.

Getting a tan helps Acne disappear

Even though getting a tan temporarily masks Acne signs it definitely does not help Acne disappear for good. On the contrary, the face skin will only dry up and peel off in the affected areas by Acne and sunburns can occur. Also, the risk of cancer is increased through excessive tanning.

If you have Acne and follow and anti-Acne treatment you should avoid tanning as the drugs or creams you use generally create a hyper sensibility of the epidermal layers and you could get sunburns all over your skin. During the summer it is best to cover the Acne affected areas of your body with oil-free cream that also has high UV filters and do not forget to use a summer hat and sunglasses.

Squeezing the pimples will make Acne disappear

Even though after the squeezing procedure the pimple will temporarily look less visible the truth is germs will get into the skin from your hands or from inside the pimple and in a day or two the inflammation will be back and more pimples will appear in that skin zone. Plus, you can get scars that will disappear only in a few months or even last forever. If a zit appears in the day you have a date it’s best to cover it up with special products of make-up made for Acne skin.

Health Valentine Day and Chocolate

Valentine's Day is a right day for giving hugs, kisses, a box of roses or a box of chocolate to your sweetie. Researchers point out that eating chocolate and smooching may reduce your chances of tooth decay and gum disease.

According to the Academy of General Dentistry, chocolate contains tannins (a chemical substance capable of promoting tanning) which, help prevent cavity causing bacteria from adhering to teeth and gums.

When mixed with sugar, tannins reduce the plaque that causes caries (cavities) and periodontal disease, but eating chocolate alone does not mean you do not have to brush and floss your teeth.

So, remember when you pucker up with your sweetie on Valentine's Day smooching stimulates salivary flow, which washes out the mouth and helps remove cavity causing food particles that accumulate altering eating.

How To Protect Yourself Without Scam

There are thousands of unsuspecting people who end up falling victim to health insurance scams each year. Unauthorized insurers are ready to sell you health insurance with a low-cost premium and most people would never think that there are fake insurance companies out there waiting to steal your money. With so many companies offering health insurance, how does one decipher which ones are scams? The current trend of scams is on the rise due to the large number of uninsured individuals compared to the rising cost of prescription drugs. Simply put, people are looking for the best deal. There are ways to keep yourself safe from these con artists and still pay a reasonable premium.

Does a health insurance company seem to be offering a policy that is too good to be true? It could be. Victims of health insurance scams are usually those who go shopping around and find a great deal (and then find that in an emergency they are without insurance). There are no clear indicators of fraud unless you know what particular red flags to listen for during their sales pitch of their particular policy.

Con-artists are professionals at what they do because it’s often how they make their entire living. They will have paperwork that looks identical to a real insurer and uphold everything that seems to be that of a genuine and legitimate agent. First, common scams include loopholes that make sure what they are selling is not actually insurance. This would mean it is a discount program of some sort. These scams may reach you by telephone, offering a discount to individuals who, for any reason, do not qualify for real insurance. Also be wary if an agent mentions their plan being "reinsured." It is true that some legitimate insurance companies do have reinsurance to protect themselves, but it is never mentioned when trying to sell insurance to a customer.

Health insurance scams are not easily spotted—liars may be trying to take advantage of your ignorance. Therefore, it is important to know all you can about health insurance before purchasing a plan. If someone calls your home and tries to sell you a form of health care or health insurance, take what knowledge you have and ask as many questions as you can think of. Any indication that this may be a fake insurer should be taken to the state insurance regulators for investigation. You could be saving yourself and others from being a victim.

Affordable Health Insurance for Unemployed

Being unemployed can be a financial downside to say the least. You may be dependant on someone else to cover your daily expenses such as a place to live and food to eat. Health insurance is something that everyone needs and not enough people have available because of these other financial burdens. Any emergency such as a car accident or broken bone will require adequate medical assistance. What do you do when you don't have insurance and can't afford expensive medical bills? If you are unemployed, you need to find health insurance to prevent this from happening.

COBRA is a law in which many people could be eligible to remain on an employer's health insurance plan even after they lose their employment. The most ideal person for this coverage is someone who is between jobs and is not in need of long-term help. It can last at least a year to those who qualify, but the premium amount is still an expense that some unemployed individuals may not be able to take care of with their lack of income. If you are able to pay the premium and are eligible, COBRA will also cover your spouse and children who are dependent on you for insurance. The best way to determine if you could receive health insurance is to contact your local employer's benefits department and fill out the required forms.

You can also shop around for typical health insurance. Many free Internet services are proven reliable by the Better Business Bureau Online. By speaking with one of these insurance experts, you can get help finding the most affordable health insurance that will fit your specific needs. They know the rates of thousands of insurance companies and can fix you up with appropriate coverage for your specific needs. If you have a spouse or children, having health coverage is a necessity. Life is full of unexpected events and you cannot ensure that everyone will stay completely healthy until you have insurance again because accidents do happen.

Finding an affordable coverage rate on your own can be a hassle. The experts at these companies are offering their assistance to you, often as a free service. Whether you need to find something short-term or for an extended period, they are qualified and dedicated to helping you.

If you find yourself unemployed at any time in your life, you are probably without health insurance. This can be a nightmare whether you have a family or not because medical expenses can put you into debt quickly. Luckily, there are ways of finding affordable coverage providers that can keep your health, as well as your finances, safe. A simple doctor visit can cost you significantly more money than it would with insurance. Do not let yourself become one of the many people who are unfortunately living life without proper insurance coverage.

Alternative Toothache Pain Bearable Ways

A toothache is far from death, but someone who suffers this disease will get an extremely painful experience. So what do you do if you have a toothache and can't get to the dentist immediately? There are some useful remedies you might have around your home. These home remedies will very helpful to make the pain of toothache bearable and sometimes even get rid of it. Here are some of those products I have used in the past and found good results with.

Salt
Regular table salt can also take the sting out of a toothache. Add a couple of tablespoons of salt to warm water and rinse your mouth out around it. This works almost immediately but will not last long. When using salt try not to use it to many times in the same day. This will leave your mouth feeling swollen and dried out. I usually rinse my mouth out with salt at the first sign of a toothache.

Oral Gel
Oral gel can be very useful for a toothache. I personally do not use this often but I do carry it around with me for emergencies. The main problem with oral gel is getting it placed in the right spot. To place it in the right spot and avoid putting your tongue to sleep a q-tip is best to apply the gel with. Oral gel does not usually last long.

Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is natural antibacterial and anti-infection oil. Place a few drops of tea tree oil on a damp toothbrush and brush the tooth. This does not have a pleasant taste and has a strong smell so do not use more then a few drops. I have also tried rinsing my mouth out with a few drops of oil mixed with water. This did work but tasted really bad. Adding a few drops of Tea Tree Oil to your toothbrush a few times a week is also a good prevention method. This oil can be purchased at your local health food store and some Wal-Mart's sell it on the same aisle as the vitamins.

Clove Oil
Clove oil is the best product I have found to relive a toothache. I found it in a package with cotton balls and tweezers. I recommend using those to apply this. Clove oil is very strong and does burn if placed on the skin. It has an extremely strong smell and will bring tears to your eyes. While it is unpleasant to use it works wonders. The pain usually stops immediately and kills the infection very fast. This can sometimes be found in toothache kits or at a natural food store.

Off course, the very best thing for a toothache is a dentist. If a dentist is not a possibility at the time some of these might give your relief. Always be careful with a toothache since an infected tooth can lead to many serious medical problems.
