- Always carry a toothbrush with you.
- Clean your tongue and cheeks.
- If you can't brush you’re teeth because you forgot your toothbrush, go to the restroom and get a mouth full of water and swish it around. This will wash the smell of food from your mouth. And for those of those who are wearing partials or dentures, rinse them off with mild liquid soap and water before you put them back in your mouth.
- If you forgot your toothpaste, you can brush with plain water.
- If you are at a restaurant, and can't excuse yourself from the table. Take a sip from your water glass and discreetly circulate the water across and around your teeth. Then swallow it.
- Eat three meals a day because, bad breath can be caused by not eating.
- Gargle with a minty mouthwash.
- Chew a breath mint or chew minty chewing gum.
- Eat parsley, it can freshen your breath naturally.
- Spice us your breath! There are herbs and spices in your kitchen cabinet that you can chew after eating odorous meals. They are cloves, fennel, or anise seeds.
- Stay away from spicy foods and foods with garlic because, the odor will stay in the mouth up to 24 hours. You should also avoid foods that include onions and hot peppers.
- Don't eat spicy deli meats such as pastrami, salami, and pepperoni because, they leave oils behind them which leaves a bad smell.
- Avoid eating strong cheeses such as; camembert, Roquefort, and blue cheese toppings because, they have a very strong odor.
- Avoid eating some fish like, anchovies and tuna because their smell stays with you a long time.
- Drink water or tea instead of coffee, beer, wine, and whiskey, these beverages will leave a residue that can attach to the plaque in your mouth and infiltrate your digestive system.
- You should see a dentist or doctor if your bad breath lasts more than 24 hours without a cause.
